Abstract:

Aquatic vegetation plays an important role in maintaining and protecting water quality, providing shoreline stabilization and ensuring balanced fish and wildlife populations. Therefore, Florida law (F.S. 369.20) requires all persons intending to control or remove aquatic vegetation from the waters of the state to obtain a permit from the Commission's Invasive Plant Management Section unless an exemption for the activity has been provided in statute or rule (Chapters 68F-20).

Purpose:

To document the locations and attributes of Aquatic Plant Control Permit Applications and Permits.

Prior to July 1, 2004, the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) was known as the Florida Marine Research Institute (FMRI). The institute name has not been changed in historical data sets or references to work completed by the Florida Marine Research Institute. Process_Description:

A Model in ArcGIS Model Builder was created and followed the below export steps to provide these data:
1) The data where Latiudes and Longitudes had not been recorded were queried from the Permit System Database using the "Make Query Table" tool. 2) These data were geocoded using the street address and the zip code provided in the data. 3) The data where Latitudes and Longitudes had been recorded were queried from the Permit System Database using the "Make Query Layer" tool. 4) The Data with the Latitudes and Longitudes and the Geocoded data were MERGEd into one feature class. 5) The ExportDate field was created and populated using the "Calculate Field" tool with the date the process was run. 6) The data were projected into PCSAlbers and uploaded into the ArcSDE database.
