Abstract:
These data were created because the Fish Biology group of FMRI needed to obtain a GIS data set that referred to distance up the St. Johns River. This data set includes units in both miles and kilometers. The distance increments are 500 meters.
Purpose:
This data set is for distance reference only. The data extent is between an arbitrarily selected mouth and head of the St. Johns River.
Supplemental_Information:
Prior to July 1, 2004, the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) was known as the Florida Marine Research Institute (FMRI). The institute name has not been changed in historical data sets or references to work completed by the Florida Marine Research Institute. The institute name has been changed in references to ongoing research, new research, and contact information. The marker points were created from 1989 FDEP Florida major rivers data set.
