Abstract:
These GIS data were created as a result of the 1992 Panhandle Big Bend Seagrass mapping project by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), National Wetlands Research Center (NWRC). Both linear and polygonal features were delineated. The oyster data coverage was created by conducting an ARC/INFO RESELECT. Information for this data set will be the same as that for the NW Seagrass 1992 (FMRI.seagrass_nw_fl_1992_poly).
Purpose:
The purpose of the seagrass mapping is to maintain a record of the spatial distributions as an indicator of health. The delineation of oysters was completed because there is so little information about their spatial distribution.
Supplemental_Information:
Prior to July 1, 2004, the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) was known as the Florida Marine Research Institute (FMRI). The institute name has not been changed in historical data sets or references to work completed by the Florida Marine Research Institute. The institute name has been changed in references to ongoing research, new research, and contact information.
