Abstract:
This spatial dataset represents locations of point-count surveys for the Eastern Painted Bunting in Florida. These non-random, territorial call surveys were conducted to locate breeding sites of Eastern Painted Buntings within the range delineated in Florida. The survey period (1May-15 June) corresponded to the peak breeding season of the Eastern Painted Bunting. Survey results were recorded as presence or absence of Painted Buntings.
Purpose:
To assess the status of the subspecies in light of a suspected range-wide decline in abundance in Florida.
Supplemental_Information:
Prior to July 1, 2004, the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) was known as the Florida Marine Research Institute (FMRI). The institute name has not been changed in historical data sets or references to work completed by the Florida Marine Research Institute. The institute name has been changed in references to ongoing research, new research, and contact information.
