This GIS data set represents boundaries of Fish Management Areas (FMA) administered by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). These data are intended as a general reference map only. More information on activities permitted in individual areas can be found on the FWC Division of Freshwater Fisheries Web site: <http://floridafisheries.com/fma/index.html>.

Purpose:

This GIS data set was created to represent a comprehensive statewide data set of Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) Fish Management Areas.

Supplemental_Information:

Prior to July 1, 2004, the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) was known as the Florida Marine Research Institute (FMRI). The institute name has not been changed in historical data sets or references to work completed by the Florida Marine Research Institute. The institute name has been changed in references to ongoing research, new research, and contact information.

It is strongly recommended that this data is directly acquired from FWC and not indirectly through other sources which may have changed the data in some way.
