Abstract:
The Florida panther (Puma concolor coryi) mortality database contains all known and documented mortalities including known or likely causes. This dataset reflects dead Florida panthers from Feburary 13, 1972 to December 31, 2018.
Purpose:
To monitor Florida panther mortalities and document their locations and causes.
Supplemental_Information:
This dataset includes only those mortalities with known coordinate locations.

Features in spreadsheet with 0 latitude and longitude coordinates were removed from the spatial file. A point in Georgia which had incorrect UTM coordinates was corrected. Records with "Type" = "Injury" were removed from the dataset, and then the "Type" field was also removed.

Received panther mortality database from Panther Team, containing a cumulative table of spatial coordinates of mortality locations since Feb 1972, as well as associated attributes. Isolated present year data, created XY event of the data using a UTM NAD 83 Zone 17 projection. Projected to Modified Florida Albers using the NAD_1983_To_HARN_Florida transformation, appended to existing shapefile using the Data Management Merge tool and updated this metadata record.
