Abstract:

This dataset serves as documentation of vegetation in the littoral zones around Lake Lochloosa , Lake Istokpoga, East Tohopekaliga, Lake Tohopekaliga and Lake Orange, Florida using digital aerial photography. The Vegetation communities were mapped using digital aerial imagery acquired from a DMC camera in June of 2007 at a scale of 1 foot pixel resolution. Fieldwork was documented of vegetative species and communities to ensure that imagery signatures correlated to field conditions. Photointerpretation was completed steroscopically on stereo workstations. Each distinct community of emergent and floating vegetation was mapped according to the Florida Land Use, Cover and Forms Classification System (FLUCCS) as detailed below. {insert Craig mallison FWC -> The existing HABITAT field was edited to match the desired classification system for this lake. FWC edited the HABITAT field to correspond with a classification system used by the Orange Creek Basin Working Group. All other fields were completed by Avineon.}

The objective of this project was to produce spatially and thematically accurate maps of littoral vegetation forLake Lochloosa , Lake Istokpoga, East Tohopekaliga, Lake Tohopekaliga and Lake Orange.

Attribute accuracy was tested by visual comparison of the aerial photographs with the FLUCCS classification to ensure consistency with the classification system and photo signatures. Groundtruthing was also performed to aid in delineation and classification of photo signatures. The data has a minimum 90% thematic accuracy of interpretation of polygons representing a community type.

Logical_Consistency_Report:

Polygon Topology present. All polygons were tested for closure and no dangles, slivers, or superfluous pseudo nodes exist. Every polygon has a label, every label has an attribute. There are no multiple labels within polygons, there are no contiguous polygons(adjacent polygons with the same attribute.)

Completeness_Report:

The minimum mapping unit is a quarter acre. Features were captured and classified according the the rules, conventions and descriptions listed by the definitions of the project.

The positional accuracy of this data meets USGS NMAS for 1:24000 scale maps. Horizontal accuracy of the data corresponds to the positional accuracy of the USGS DOQQ's. Digital linework was reviewed over the USGS DOQQ's and well defined features on the images were inspected for comparison to linework data collected representing those features. GPS check points were also collected using a differentially corrected Trimble Pro XR receiver.

Photointerpretation was completed by means of a stereo workstation utilizing Z/I's Image Station Stereo Display software. Features were collected in Bently's Microstation V8 and imported into Esri's ArcInfo for validation.
