Abstract:
This dataset represents Florida panther (Puma concolor coryi) radio-telemetry data collected February 1981-June 2019. These data were collected by three entities: Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Everglades National Park (ENP), and Big Cypress National Preserve (BCNP). Methodology for the collection of telemetry locations was described by Land et al. (2008). Many of these panther locations were collected during the diurnal resting period (i.e., during early to mid-morning [Comiskey et al., 2002; Beier et al., 2003]).
Purpose: Monitor Florida panther activities.

Location data were contributed by the FWC, BCNP, and ENP in a cooperative effort.

Received panther telemetry database from Panther Team, containing a cumulative table of spatial coordinates of telemetry locations since Feb 1981, as well as associated attributes. Flights for each radio-collared panther were conducted aerially, 3 times a week. Panthers that were unable to be located were occasionally noted in the dataset. These null locations were removed before the table was converted to a shapefile, with the Florida Modified Albers projection.
